About FUE
FUE hair restoration can help you achieve natural-looking, thicker hair. Androgenic alopecia– a genetic condition that causes hair loss–affects approximately 30% of men by the time they turn 30 years old. (1) The condition affects approximately 67% of men and 27% of women during their lives. (2) Thinning hair, especially in areas that are difficult to conceal such as the crown of your head and the frontal hairline can impact your self-esteem. We can quickly restore your scalp hair and promote thicker, fuller hair growth with this highly customizable, minimally invasive treatment.
Unlike older hair restoration methods like Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), follicular unit extraction/excision (FUE) avoids a linear scar and can help you achieve even, long-lasting hair growth. We can harvest groups of healthy hair follicles (follicular units) from one area and strategically place them in the areas where you would like thicker, fuller hair. The advancements in hair restoration techniques have made them safer and more effective than ever before.
Types of FUE
The type of hair restoration procedure you receive will depend on the treatment plan created for you by Dr. Jezic and his clinical team. We use a local anesthetic for your comfort during the procedure and the latest technology to harvest your hair follicles.
ATERA
ATERA FUE is a state-of-the-art hair restoration procedure that uses advanced technology to restore hair effectively and naturally. ATERA can help you achieve fuller hair by extracting your hair follicles with a special machine that moisturizes them after extraction to improve the hair grafting process. The lightweight handpiece helps Dr. Jezic harvest hair more efficiently while preserving the surrounding tissue and reducing the risk of bleeding. The minimally invasive treatment can easily help you achieve natural results with a quick recovery time and long-lasting hair growth.
Hybrid Hair Restoration
Hybrid hair restoration is an innovative method to combat hair loss by combining multiple hair restoration techniques. This approach takes the best aspects of various procedures and synergizes them to provide optimal results. For individuals experiencing thinning or balding areas, hybrid hair restoration can offer a comprehensive solution that rejuvenates the look of their hair.
FUE Hair Transplant Benefits
After advanced hair transplant procedures such as FUE, you can enjoy several benefits including:
- Minimally invasive procedure: FUE does not require large incisions, resulting in less trauma to the scalp and quicker recovery.
- Natural-looking results: With careful placement of hair grafts, the results mimic natural hair growth patterns, making it nearly impossible to detect that a transplant has occurred.
- Less discomfort: Most patients report limited pain during and after the procedure, especially when compared to FUT hair transplantation methods.
- Quick recovery: Patients typically resume normal activities within a few days, given the minimal downtime associated with FUE.
- No linear scarring: Instead of leaving a single linear scar, FUE leaves tiny scars in the donor area that are more inconspicuous.
- Versatile hair restoration: FUE can be applied to various areas requiring restoration, including the scalp, beard, and eyebrows.
- Tailored results: Each FUE procedure can be customized based on the patient’s desired outcome, taking into account their unique goals and needs.
Candidates & Consultation
Ideal candidates for FUE hair transplantation include:
- Men and women experiencing thinning hair or bald patches.
- Individuals suffering from androgenetic alopecia.
- Those who possess adequate donor hair in the viable areas.
- Healthy individuals who maintain realistic expectations regarding outcomes.
For those with limited donor hair on the scalp, Dr. Jezic and his clinical team offer body-to-scalp hair transplants wherein donor hair is harvested from the chest, abdomen and other areas of the body.
During your consultation, we will examine the areas where you are losing hair to determine the best treatment plan for your needs. If you often wear tight hairstyles that pull on your hair, we will likely recommend that you adjust your routine to support new hair growth. If you have a genetic condition, hormonal changes from aging, or other concerns, we will take this into account when creating your treatment plan to help you achieve long-term success.

Preparation for your FUE Hair Transplant
On the day of your FUE Hair Transplant procedure, you will need to wear loose-fitting clothing so that you can sit comfortably while we perform the hair treatment. To prepare for FUE, you will need to:
- Discuss all blood thinning medications and vitamins with your doctor at least a week prior to your procedure
- Refrain from smoking for a few weeks
- Do not drink alcohol for a few days leading up to the procedure
- Get enough sleep on the nights leading up to your hair transplant
- Have a light breakfast on the morning of your procedure
- Inform your doctor about any medical history or medications you are taking
- Ask a friend you trust to drive you home
- Arrange for time off work to recover for at least a couple of days.
Protecting your skin and taking good care of it can help you achieve the best results.
Recovery & Results
Although you can return home immediately after your FUE procedure, we recommend that you rest for a few days to help your scalp and body recover. We will provide aftercare instructions to help you take care of your scalp. For the best results, you will need to take good care of your body as well. Eating nutritious meals, taking vitamins, using gentle hairstyles, and washing your hair carefully with healthy shampoo can help you grow thicker hair. You will need to avoid sun exposure, which could damage your scalp and affect the ability of the new hair follicles to take root and grow properly. We have an excellent topical compound that can help with hair regrowth and recovery.
Most patients return to light activities within a few days but may experience some hair shedding in the first few months post-transplant. As the hair follicles re-establish themselves, new hair growth becomes noticeable within approximately six months.

FAQ
How long does an FUE hair restoration procedure take?
The length of your treatment will depend on the size of the treatment area and the severity of your hair loss. Depending on the complexity and number of grafts being harvested, the entire process may take anywhere from six to eight hours.
Will I experience pain during an advanced hair transplant procedure?
No, we use local anesthesia for your comfort and we can also prescribe medication for your recovery if you need a more comprehensive hair restoration treatment.

What is the average recovery time for a hair transplant?
Most patients resume normal activities within a week but may need to avoid vigorous exercise for a brief period following the procedure. Full results generally take several months.
Can I wear my hair short after a hair transplant?
Yes, with FUE, your hair can remain short, minimizing the visibility of scarring in the donor area.
How long do hair transplant results last?
Results from hair transplant surgeries are generally permanent, whereas outcomes from other treatments may vary in longevity.
