What do you mean by “minimally invasive”? When can I return to work?

After a procedure, the hair transplant recovery time varies dramatically. A standard strip surgery FUT harvest can produce a large scar and long recovery time that can last weeks. A hair transplant recovery in Houston follows the same general rules of recovery.

However, Follicular unit extraction (FUE) harvest requires no scalpel or stitches and produces no line scar. Some of our patients return to work the next day, or two, thanks to the minimally invasive approach we take with FUE (however this can vary and many others plan 7 days or more depending on the size of case and type of work). The Dr. Jezic’s Center does not use a scalpel which means you do not get any large wound and no long painful restoration recovery time. If you have a hectic work schedule, make sure you can be off for the procedure day for the whole day and you can plan to go back during the following few days or so. Although you may have a shorter hair cut, most patients are able to obtain a crew cut to minimize the visible changes. Please note the details of the after procedure look vary dramatically and can even include a full buzz cut.* Follow up is also important and we encourage and promote regular follow up after a procedure.

Our FUE Hair Transplant Center in Houston handles a large volume of FUE only cases. The FUE graft implant is our specialty in hair restoration. We can help guide you through the process as you consider your options and alternatives. It is also important to remember that a smooth procedure recovery can lead to a higher hair transplant success rate with great growth. Contact us today to learn more!

When Can I Shower After A Hair Transplant Procedure?

You can shower as soon as the next day. The main thing to remember is that it is important to avoid direct shower pressure on the site of the new grafts. Showering your body is ok, but the grafts need gentle care for the first 10 days.

A Comfortable Hair Restoration Experience

To help assure a comfortable experience and improved overall Hair Transplant recovery, we strive to help patients achieve the best they can get. Your hair restoration success rate and procedure experience are very important to our hair clinic. One example of our efforts include the use of highly advanced procedure chairs and exam beds that have memory foam.

What Are The Restrictions After A Hair Transplant?

This depends on the type of restoration technique used and the size of the case. With our approach, most patients are able to return to work the following morning or within 1-3 days. However, after a restoration, every situation and every patient is unique. A thorough discussion should be undertaken with your Medical Doctor (M.D.)

Every medical procedure has risks and potential. Hair transplant complications are many but most often include things like lack of hair growth. What leads to no growth? Often, this is related to systemic issues as seen with a heavy smoker. Also, more hair restoration surgery risk is seen with diabetic patients who do not have good control over blood sugar levels. As with anything in medicine, hair transplant complications also include possible infection. The risk of infection is small but is one of many reasons to closely follow your doctor’s instructions.

Is hair transplant pain a common issue? This question is important because it varies depending on if you choose FUT or FUE hair graft restoration. In general, pain is more an issue with FUT. Our specialty clinic does not offer FUT.

Are Hair Transplants Painful?

The pain involved in an FUE hair transplant is minimal compared to the FUT. One reason for this is that FUE involves no scalpel and thus less pain. Thousands have chosen FUE for the improved recovery and reduced pain, learn more about this throughout our dedicated website.

*As with all procedures healing times vary. No stitches or scalpels are used but full healing, resolution of swelling, and a return of normalcy can take 2-14 days. If a more advanced hair cut is required, this is another factor that must be taken into consideration and will depend on the case size. Cases larger the 500 grafts often require more healing time. However, for most patients, the only restrictive factor is the appearance. As an example, an accountant can return to work the next day or two if your ability to work is not hindered. However, the hair cut and/or scabs of the normal healing process may require more time to heal from 2-10 days. The hair cut can also vary dramatically from a small buzz of an undetectable area to a full head shave. It is important to discuss the details in person with a physician in consult.
